Goldee’s, Fabrik and Kappo Kappo win Texas’s new Michelin stars

Three Texas restaurants won their first MICHELIN star on October 8, 2026: Fabrik and Kappo Kappo in Austin, and Goldee’s Bar-B-Q, the first starred restaurant in Fort Worth. La Barbecue in Austin lost its star, and Olamaie, which closed in July, left the guide. Texas now has 19 one-star restaurants and still no two-star.

There was no ceremony this year: Michelin revealed the 2026 selection in a press release.

Fabrik: a vegan tasting menu in Austin

Chef Je Wallerstein’s Fabrik moved up from the guide’s Recommended list. Its tasting menu costs $105 per person before tax and tip, with a wine pairing at $65. It joins the short list in our guide to vegan and vegetarian Michelin star restaurants.

Kappo Kappo: the Kishi brothers’ counter

The menu at Kappo Kappo, the Japanese counter of twin brothers Haru and Gohei Kishi, costs $195 a head.

Goldee’s Bar-B-Q: Fort Worth’s first star

Fort Worth’s Goldee’s Bar-B-Q sells barbecue by the plate rather than a tasting menu, so a meal there costs about $42. That puts it among the cheapest Michelin star restaurants anywhere.

Which Texas restaurants lost their stars?

La Barbecue stays in the guide as a Recommended restaurant, without its star. Olamaie, one of Austin’s first starred restaurants, closed on July 19 after 12 years. No restaurant in Dallas, Houston or San Antonio lost a star, so Dallas keeps both of its starred restaurants: Mamani and the sushi counter Tatsu Dallas.

The rest of the 2026 guide

The guide lists 149 restaurants. Six new Bib Gourmands went to Bar Buena, Khoi Barbecue, Kitchen Rumors, Murray’s Pizza & Wine and Xolo in Houston, and Resident Taqueria in Dallas. Stefan Davis, general manager of Barley Swine, won the Service Award.
