Du Cerf, Jean-Marc Soldati’s one-MICHELIN-star restaurant in Sonceboz, in the Bernese Jura, will close for good after its last service on the evening of Saturday 19 December 2026, he has announced on the restaurant’s website. Soldati is retiring, and the hotel stays open.

Why Du Cerf is closing

Soldati wrote that he wants to step back while he is in good health and still enjoys cooking, after more than a quarter of a century as a starred restaurateur. He had hoped to hand the restaurant on so its story could continue, but that did not work out. He and Christian Albrecht, both formerly of the Hôtel de Ville in Crissier, took over the Cerf at the end of 1999. It has held 16 Gault&Millau points since 2000 and a MICHELIN star since 2001, and Soldati has run it alone since July 2015.

How to eat there before it closes

The gastronomic menus, agreed with the chef when booking, cost CHF 189–215, and a business menu of CHF 109 is served at lunch and dinner on booking. The restaurant asks guests to contact it directly for tables until 19 December, and anyone holding a booking or a gift voucher to get in touch with its reference. Our page of Michelin star restaurants in Berne lists the canton’s other starred tables with their prices, and keeps Du Cerf until it closes.

The Swiss guide’s next ceremony

The MICHELIN Guide reveals its new Swiss selection in Andermatt on 2 November, seven weeks before Du Cerf’s last service. Our MICHELIN Guide Switzerland results page will list that night’s new and lost stars.

Penfolds’ Magill Estate Restaurant is Australia’s first two-star restaurant, and ten more in Adelaide, the Hills and the wine regions win one star in the first South Australia guide.

Australia has its first Michelin stars. The first MICHELIN Guide South Australia, revealed at the Adelaide Convention Centre on 14 October 2026, gave two stars to Magill Estate Restaurant, Penfolds’ dining room in Adelaide’s eastern foothills, and one star to ten more restaurants in Adelaide, the Adelaide Hills and the state’s wine regions.

Magill Estate Restaurant, Australia’s first two-star

Chef Scott Huggins cooks at Magill Estate Restaurant, beside the vineyard where Penfolds began. Its full tasting experience costs A$375 (about $265) per person, with a sommelier’s wine pairing at A$260 (about $185), and a shorter Signature Menu is A$295, also served at weekend lunch.

The ten one-star restaurants

Four are in and around the city, where dinner costs A$330 (about $230) at Restaurant Botanic in the Botanic Garden, A$130 (about $90) at Aurora at ILA on Light Square, A$135 (about $95) at Esmay in Hackney and from A$165 (about $115) at arkhé in Norwood. Six are country kitchens, three of them open only at lunch: Aptos in Stirling, the dearest in the state at A$495 (about $345) for 16 courses, LVN Restaurant at Bird in Hand in Woodside, Hentley Farm in the Barossa, Maxwell Restaurant in McLaren Vale, Anvers at Kangarilla and Skillogalee Barrel House in the Clare Valley, whose two-course lunch at A$59 (about $40) is the cheapest Michelin-starred meal in the country.

The rest of the selection

The guide lists 77 restaurants in all: the 11 with stars, 16 with a Bib Gourmand, among them Africola and Parwana Afghan Kitchen in Adelaide, and 50 MICHELIN Selected. Shakaan Abillion of Shōbōsho won the Young Chef Award, Melissa Pisanelli of Allegra Dining Room the Service Award and Maxime Martin of Hardy’s Verandah the Sommelier Award.

Why Sydney and Melbourne have none

The guide covers South Australia only, so Sydney and Melbourne are still without a star; our guide to Michelin star restaurants in Sydney and Melbourne explains why. Every starred restaurant in the state, with dinner, lunch and wine pairing prices, is on our South Australia Michelin star restaurants page, and Adelaide’s five are on its Adelaide page.

SUIS in Schin op Geul and Azurite in Delft won two MICHELIN stars at the Netherlands ceremony in Maastricht on 5 October 2026, and seven more restaurants won their first. Four lost their stars, two of them in Amsterdam, which gained none. De Librije in Zwolle remains the country’s only three-star restaurant.

The two new two-star restaurants

Ralf Berendsen opened SUIS only at the end of April, after leaving La Butte aux Bois in Belgium. Its tasting menu costs €225 (about $250), and there is a lunch menu at €95 (about $105). At Azurite in Delft, chef Mario Ridder’s menu costs €229 (about $255).

New one-star restaurants

Seven restaurants won their first star: Ambrozijn in Valkenburg (€129 (about $145)), Bij Sidney in Loenen aan de Vecht (€125 (about $140)), De Cuijt in Mierlo (€135 (about $150)), Le Epifaan in Veeningen (€155 (about $175)), Nassau in Groningen (€110 (about $125)), Rozewied in Kortgene (€105 (about $115)) and Wild Atelier in Hoog Soeren (€179 (about $200)). The prices are each restaurant’s dinner menu per person. Rozewied’s chefs, Noëmie Haentjens and Ferdy van Rijswijk, also won the Young Chef award.

Which Dutch restaurants lost their stars?

De Juwelier and Daalder in Amsterdam, Sense in Vught and Da Vinci in Maasbracht lost their stars. Two two-star restaurants closed during the year, De Groene Lantaarn in Staphorst and Spectrum in Amsterdam, and De Woage in Gramsbergen left the guide after becoming a bar.

How many Michelin stars does the Netherlands have now?

The 2026 guide lists 119 starred restaurants: one with three stars, 20 with two and 98 with one, plus 77 Bib Gourmands.

Orfali Bros, the restaurant of brothers Mohammad, Wassim and Omar Orfali, won its second MICHELIN star at the fifth Dubai ceremony, at Atlantis The Royal on 6 October 2026. Birch and KIGO won their first star. Four restaurants that are temporarily closed kept their stars, but La Dame de Pic, Anne-Sophie Pic’s restaurant at One&Only One Za’abeel, is also closed and has lost its star.

What a meal at Orfali Bros costs

The tasting menu at Orfali Bros costs AED 795 (about $215) per person, and its set lunch AED 295 (about $80), the cheapest two-star meal we list in Dubai.

Birch and KIGO

At Birch, chef Arslan Berdiev’s menu costs AED 790 (about $215), with a wine pairing at AED 550 (about $150). Japanese omakase and kaiseki at KIGO cost AED 1,500 (about $410); its chef Akinori Tanigawa and his team also won the Service Award.

Why closed restaurants kept their stars

Al Muntaha, Dinner by Heston Blumenthal, Ossiano and Smoked Room are all temporarily closed but kept one star each. Michelin told Gulf News that a star rests on its latest inspections and is checked again when a restaurant reopens. Ossiano’s Rémy Marquignon still won the Young Chef award.

How many Michelin star restaurants does Dubai have?

Twenty: FZN by Björn Frantzén and Trèsind Studio with three stars, four with two and 14 with one, among 122 restaurants in the guide. Trèsind Studio, where Himanshu Saini cooks, is still the only Indian restaurant in the world with three stars; we profile him with the other Indian Michelin star chefs.

Five MICHELIN Guides announce their new stars in the next nine weeks: the American South in Nashville on 21 October, Switzerland in Andermatt on 2 November, Italy in Piacenza on 12 November, Spain and Andorra in Huesca on 24 November and the Northeast Cities in Manhattan on 14 December. Between them they cover 944 of the starred restaurants on our pages.

American South: Nashville, 21 October

The second edition of the guide for Georgia, Tennessee, the Carolinas and Louisiana is revealed at The Pinnacle in Nashville. Its first edition starred 19 restaurants, all with one star except Emeril’s in New Orleans, which has two. Our American South results page will list every change on the night.

Switzerland: Andermatt, 2 November

Michelin moves the Swiss ceremony from the EHL hospitality school in Lausanne to the Andermatt Concert Hall, almost 1,500 metres up in the Alps. Our pages list 133 starred restaurants in Switzerland, four of them with three stars: Schloss Schauenstein, Cheval Blanc by Peter Knogl, Restaurant de l’Hôtel de Ville in Crissier and Sven Wassmer Memories.

Italy: Piacenza, 12 November

The Teatro Municipale in Piacenza hosts the launch of the 2027 Italian guide, the biggest of the five: 379 starred restaurants in Italy, 14 of them with three stars. Italy names its guide for the year ahead, so the stars announced in November are the 2027 selection.

Spain and Andorra: Huesca, 24 November

The gala comes to Aragón for the first time, at the Palacio de Congresos in Huesca, after Málaga last year. Our pages list 298 starred restaurants in Spain and Andorra, 16 with three stars.

Northeast Cities: Manhattan, 14 December

One guide, revealed at the Glasshouse in Manhattan, covers New York, Chicago, Washington DC, Boston and Philadelphia. It covers 115 starred restaurants, six with three stars, among them Le Bernardin and Per Se.

What we do on the night

We update each guide’s restaurants from Michelin’s press release and the news coverage, with the price of a meal at every new star, and write the night’s main changes up here. Every guide’s date, including the ones further off, is on our page of Michelin Guide ceremony dates.

Three first stars in the 2026 Texas guide: Goldee’s Bar-B-Q, Fort Worth’s first, and Austin’s vegan Fabrik and Japanese counter Kappo Kappo. La Barbecue lost its star.

Three Texas restaurants won their first MICHELIN star on October 8, 2026: Fabrik and Kappo Kappo in Austin, and Goldee’s Bar-B-Q, the first starred restaurant in Fort Worth. La Barbecue in Austin lost its star, and Olamaie, which closed in July, left the guide. Texas now has 19 one-star restaurants and still no two-star.

There was no ceremony this year: Michelin revealed the 2026 selection in a press release.

Fabrik: a vegan tasting menu in Austin

Chef Je Wallerstein’s Fabrik moved up from the guide’s Recommended list. Its tasting menu costs $105 per person before tax and tip, with a wine pairing at $65. It joins the short list in our guide to vegan and vegetarian Michelin star restaurants.

Kappo Kappo: the Kishi brothers’ counter

The menu at Kappo Kappo, the Japanese counter of twin brothers Haru and Gohei Kishi, costs $195 a head.

Goldee’s Bar-B-Q: Fort Worth’s first star

Fort Worth’s Goldee’s Bar-B-Q sells barbecue by the plate rather than a tasting menu, so a meal there costs about $42. That puts it among the cheapest Michelin star restaurants anywhere.

Which Texas restaurants lost their stars?

La Barbecue stays in the guide as a Recommended restaurant, without its star. Olamaie, one of Austin’s first starred restaurants, closed on July 19 after 12 years. No restaurant in Dallas, Houston or San Antonio lost a star, so Dallas keeps both of its starred restaurants: Mamani and the sushi counter Tatsu Dallas.

The rest of the 2026 guide

The guide lists 149 restaurants. Six new Bib Gourmands went to Bar Buena, Khoi Barbecue, Kitchen Rumors, Murray’s Pizza & Wine and Xolo in Houston, and Resident Taqueria in Dallas. Stefan Davis, general manager of Barley Swine, won the Service Award.

Every change, with prices, is on our MICHELIN Guide Texas 2026 results page, and every starred restaurant in the state is on our Texas Michelin star restaurants page.

L’Auberge des Glazicks, Olivier Bellin’s two-MICHELIN-star restaurant in Plomodiern, Finistère, will not reopen. Service stopped on 5 July 2026 during a heatwave, at first for a few weeks; on 17 September Bellin confirmed that the restaurant would not come back in its current form.

Why it closed

Bellin cited his mother’s retirement from the family inn, which goes back to 1870, the money the building needs, and a rethink of his own career; he says he will keep cooking. He won his first star in 2005 and his second in 2010. Its last listed tasting menu cost €370 (about $415).

Brittany’s other starred restaurants

Our Brittany Michelin star restaurants page lists every starred table in the region with its prices, and keeps L’Auberge des Glazicks under “No longer starred”.

The 12th-arrondissement two-star, No. 3 on The World’s 50 Best in 2024, serves its €480 menu until 22 December.

Table, Bruno Verjus’s two-MICHELIN-star restaurant in Paris’s 12th arrondissement, will close on 22 December 2026, he announced in a video on 8 September. Until then it serves one menu, “Couleur du jour”, at €480 (about $535) without drinks, at lunch and dinner.

Why Table is closing

Verjus said he no longer recognises himself in fine dining whose prices keep it for a few, and wants to cook for a wider public; he has not announced what comes next. Table opened more than 13 years ago and was No. 3 on The World’s 50 Best Restaurants in 2024.

How to eat there before it closes

The menu is the same at lunch and dinner, so there is no cheaper way in. For other starred meals in the city, our Paris Michelin star restaurants page lists every one with its dinner, lunch and wine pairing prices, including Table until it closes.

Mark Poynton at Caistor Hall, near Norwich, served its last meal on 22 August 2026. The closure was announced on 6 August, days after Poynton stepped down as chef patron. The restaurant won its MICHELIN star in February 2025 and kept it in the 2026 guide.

Why it closed

Caistor Hall was sold in April to Quadmark Group, a training company, and stopped taking hotel guests. Poynton told The Staff Canteen that without the rooms the restaurant lost its pull as a destination, that it had made money for three years, and that rising costs were not the reason. He now concentrates on the Ancient Shepherds in Fen Ditton, near Cambridge.

Where to find a starred meal in Norfolk now

Our Norfolk Michelin star restaurants page lists the county’s starred restaurants with their prices, and keeps Mark Poynton at Caistor Hall under “No longer starred”. Singapore now has 45 starred restaurants.

The two new two-star restaurants

Kevin Wong’s Seroja, open since 2022, also kept its Green Star; its tasting menu costs S$218 (about $170).
Surrey’s Sorrel closed overnight after nine years, its chef blaming higher National Insurance, the minimum wage rise and falling covers.

Sorrel, Steve Drake’s MICHELIN-starred restaurant in Dorking, Surrey, closed with immediate effect on 28 July 2026, nine years after it opened in a Grade II-listed 18th-century building. Drake said the figures no longer worked; the restaurant had been up for sale since May.

Why Sorrel closed

Drake told The Staff Canteen that higher employer’s National Insurance, April’s minimum wage rise and reduced business rates relief had piled up, and that covers had fallen to about 80 a week against the 150 to 200 it needed. About ten full-time and six part-time staff lost their jobs.

Where to find a starred meal in Surrey now

Our Surrey Michelin star restaurants page lists the county’s starred restaurants with their prices, and keeps Sorrel under “No longer starred”.
