How the prices are counted
Per person, before service
Every figure is for one guest and includes Japan's 10% consumption tax. Whether the service charge (usually 10–15%) is included depends on the source: prices from OMAKASE JapanEatinerary and Pocket Concierge include it, while restaurant websites and most other sources add it to the bill. Supplements such as caviar, truffle or matsutake courses are left out. Prices shown in pounds, euros or US dollars use the day's exchange rate and are approximate.
Where prices come from
Dinner is the main tasting or omakase course where there is one, and wine is the cheapest pairing the restaurant lists (at Japanese restaurants this is often sake). Many of Tokyo's top restaurants don't publish prices, so most figures come from the booking services they use, such as OMAKASE, Pocket Concierge and TableCheck, otherwise from the restaurant's own website or recent reviews. Where a restaurant offers several courses, the note says “from” and the cheapest is shown. Lunch is the set or tasting lunch course, and the note says which days it's served. A few restaurants don't publish a price anywhere, and theirs are marked “Not listed”.
Stars and Google rating
The Google reviews score out of 5 and the number of reviews, checked in October 2026. Stars come from the MICHELIN Guide Tokyo 2026, announced on 25 September 2025; the 2027 guide is due on 16 February 2027. A green ▲ marks a restaurant that gained a star in the October 2024 or September 2025 guide; a red ▼ marks one that lost its stars.
